Part of Our World: A Marine Conservation Campaign

Campaign-header (all 800x600)

The rainy season has arrived, and we’re now left reminiscing and dreaming of all the fun we had under the sun. A quick scroll through Instagram, it being an ocean of aesthetic vacation photos during summer gives us a taste of those better days, but these photos actually had something more to say.

This May, some of the biggest social media influencers, including the group of friends Laureen Uy, Lissa Kahayon, Nicole Andersson, and Kryz Uy, decided to take a stand and use their social media powers for good. These ladies are avid beachgoers that you could say it is part of their lifestyle, but to many, these beaches are worth more than just a pretty picture.

The ocean and our beaches are a big part of what makes the Philippines so beautiful, but it is easy to forget that they won’t stay that way forever if we aren’t consciously being mindful of our lifestyles for the preservation of our marine environment.

Together with the UP Advertising Core, the premier student-run advertising agency based in UP Diliman, non-governmental organization Marine Wildlife Watch of the Philippines, and UP Marine Biological Society, an advocacy organization that promotes awareness of the marine environment through the sport of skin diving, these blogger stars and Instagram community influencers came together to promote #PartOfOurWorld, a marine conservation campaign kicking off the celebration of the Month of the Ocean. Each post serves as a reminder that the oceans and beaches are a big part of the beautiful world we love exploring – and in order to preserve nature’s biggest wonders, then we have to do our part and leave no trace of waste behind.
