The Parrot AR Drone 2.0 Elite Edition comes with 2 kinds of hulls (bodies), one with propeller protectors which is for indoor, and another for outdoor which exposes the propeller. The outdoor hull is more bare in the sense that, Styrofoam is easily gusted by wind. With this outdoor hull it lets the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 Elite Edition be more preventive of gusts and maintains balance. Setting up the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 Elite Edition was quick. Charging the battery, plugging it in place, putting on the hull, and downloading the app and pairing it. Good to go! Launching and landing is easy at it has a button for that and the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 Elite Edition lands and takes-off by itself. Controls need a lot of practice at it does have a slight lag using wi-fi. Originally you control the drone using the gyroscope of your mobile phone or tablet, but I switched to the more conventional touch controls as I kept crashing the drone a ton of times in the gyroscope configuration. Another great thing about the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 Elite Edition app is that; it allows you to configure everything about the drone on-the-go. Moving to the built-in cameras, I was not personally enthralled by it. I’ve seen a lot of mobile phones taking better photos and videos, but this is just my own opinion. Most people will be satisfied with it though as it does 720p HD video recording and 2MP photo stills. both front and bottom cameras adorn these specifications. I liked the bottom camera for its positioning, straight downward for over the head shots and videos.
Overall, the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 Elite Edition might not be excellent in air maneuvers and stunts, but that’s not what it was made for. Fun flying, simple aerial photos and videos is what it aims and delivers.
