Ougi Yakiniku and Shabu-Shabu: This Buffet in Cavite is Totally Worth It

Ougi Yakiniku and Shabu Shabu 1

Restaurants specializing in meat grills are practically everywhere. That appetizing meat wrapped in lettuce and dipped in sesame oil never fails to make anyone’s mouth water, but too much of it can also leave you feeling a bit sticky and greasy afterwards. This is why one restaurant wanted to give customers another option in their dining experience by serving its soothing counterpart, the hotpot. Welcome to Ougi Yakiniku and Shabu-Shabu.

Grand Opening of Ougi Yakiniku and Shabu-Shabu last November 11, 2017

Ougi Yakiniku and Shabu-Shabu, as the name suggests, is a restaurant fusion of two fun ways to enjoy eating meat: yakiniku (charcoal grill) and shabu-shabu (hotpot). Strategically located on Anterio Soriano Highway in Bacao, Cavite, it can easily be seen as you drive by with its traditional and big Japanese facade.

Its interior does not disappoint because the inside is as elegant and spacious as you could imagine it; it can seat up to 136 people! Note that they also have a vast parking space, so bringing a car will never be a problem.

The price rate at Ougi Yakiniku and Shabu-Shabu is exceptionally affordable. For only Php499 during weekdays at lunchtime and Php599 during weekdays at dinner time, weekends, and holidays; you can avail of both their buffet-style hot pot if you want some filling and warm soup, and their yakiniku if you love meat on charcoal.

As mentioned, their Shabu-Shabu is buffet-style. You get to choose up to two kinds of soup (Seafood, Chicken, Spicy Miso, Spicy Sze Chuan, Tonkatsu, and, their best-seller Satay) to be placed on your table and go to the station to choose the ingredients for your hot pot. All the choices are 100% fresh vegetables and side meats. As for the beef/pork, they are available upon request from the servers.

They have several kinds of meat for their Yakiniku. Don’t be deceived by the perception that cheap prices equate to poor quality because what they serve is still premium. Marinated in their special Yakiniku sauce, you’ll enjoy savoring the goodness of your choice of beef, pork, or chicken. My favorite is their Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus (another variant is Shitake Mushroom), which I highly suggest you try, as well.Ougi Yakiniku and Shabu Shabu 21Ougi Yakiniku and Shabu Shabu 17

P.S. There is no service charge, so feel free to tip their accommodating staff for all their hard work as you see fit.

It doesn’t stop there! What makes Ougi Yakiniku and Shabu-Shabu truly worth it is their other unlimited dishes. Rice and kimchi all-you-can is already given, but they also serve other Japanese dishes! They offer Sushi (California Maki and Spicy Tuna Maki), Sashimi (Tuna and Salmon), and Tempura — and yes, you can get as much of it as you want!

To top it all off, you have a choice to end your meal in three ways. At the rear end of the store, they have the dessert station where you can refresh yourself with a choice of houseblend iced tea, red iced tea, lemonade, and pineapple juice. They also have some fruits if you want something sweet and healthy. Lastly, their coffee jelly is enough to saturate all of that umami with its creamy filling topped with some crunchy goodness.

If you’re with a big group, you can dine in their function rooms – Nagoya, Osaka, Tokyo, and Kyoto – each of which can seat up to 12 people (divided into 2 six-seater tables). Even if you need a bigger room, you don’t have to worry because Nagoya, Tokyo, and Osaka are interconnected – perfect for an intimate birthday celebration. If you need to utilize their room/s, just contact them via Facebook and let them know ahead of time.

If you’re from Cavite or if you happen to drop by the area, go and eat at Ougi. It is definitely worth the money since you don’t find this kind of value-for-money buffet in Manila often!

Be sure to go there hungry, though, because you’re going to need a big appetite for all of the unlimited food I just wrote about! Itadakimasu!
