Popular Manga ‘One Piece’ Is About To Get A Live-Action Series

Following its live-action iterations of popular mangas Death Note and Full Metal Alchemist, Netlflix continues its streak of controversial adaptations with One Piece.

(21 Studio Ghibli Movies are Coming to Netflix)

The streaming service announced just last January 30 that it would be turning One Piece into a live-action series with an order for 10 episodes already in the works. It has partnered with Tomorrow Studios and Shueisha for the project.

Eiichiro Oda, the author of the manga series, serves as an executive producer for the show. Steven Maeda, who was an executive producer for Lost, leads as the series’ showrunner while Matt Owens, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” executive story editor, is onboard as a writer.

One Piece follows the adventures of Luffy and his crew of pirates, the Straw Hat Pirates, as they search for the world’s ultimate treasure: ‘One Piece’.
