In a recent YouTube vlog, Ogie Diaz revealed that ABS-CBN’s television adaptation of Mars Ravelo’s “Darna” is set to be replaced with “Dyesebel.” Diaz also said that the upcoming drama series would reportedly star Andrea Brillantes. This comes a few days after the network announced another upcoming teleserye, “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” starring Coco Martin and Lovi Poe.

In preparation for the role, Diaz mentioned that the young actress has been training. “Andrea, good luck sa pagiging Dyesebel mo ‘no? Kasi yung iba, nagtatanong kung marunong bang mag-swim si Andrea. Yes, marunong mag-swim,” the TV host and talent manager added, noting that Andrea’s mom is also a diver.
Also created by Ravelo, the Pinoy comic book is about the mermaid’s journey to trace her parents. Actresses who portrayed the iconic role in the past are Edna Luna, Vilma Santos, Alma Moreno, Alice Dixson, Charlene Gonzales, Marian Rivera, and Anne Curtis.
Further details on the latest remake of “Dyesebel”–including who will be her leading man–are yet to be announced, However, Diaz is hoping that it will be Brillantes’ boyfriend, basketball star Ricci Rivero.
