If you managed to resist all temptation to buy a Nintendo Switch for yourself these past years, good luck trying to avoid giving into this one.
Nintendo just announced yesterday that it will be releasing an all-new version of its popular handheld gaming console that promises to be leaner, lighter, and much cheaper than its predecessor. Called the Nintendo Switch Lite, this model features a 5.5-inch screen with a 720p resolution, coming out only slightly smaller than the original.
Notable differences, though, can be seen in its physical appearance and capabilities. Unlike the original, its Joy-Con controllers cannot be detached from the screen, and its HD rumble and IR motion sensors have been removed. Furthermore, despite still being branded as a “Switch,” the Nintendo Switch Lite cannot be connected to televisions via USB-C and HDMI, making it purely a handheld gaming device. This means that players will have to ensure that the Nintendo Switch games they will be purchasing for the Nintendo Switch Lite must support handheld mode in order to function.
The Nintendo Switch Lite will be released on September 20 in three colors: grey, yellow, and turquoise. A limited-edition Pokemon design will also be released in November as well.
It will be sold for USD200 (approximately PHP 10,000).
