At a little past 4:30PM yesterday, Nelly Furtado took the stage for the official press con of her concert in Manila today at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. When in Manila, Nelly held the media meet at the posh EDSA Shangri-la hotel.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The talented Canadian artist, best known for her 2001 breakthrough song “I’m Like A Bird” that projected her to international consciousness, was very prepared. The concert may well serve as a preview of her next album “The Spirit Indestructible”, to be released in September.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Nelly Furtado excitedly described her new album to be “aggressive, fast, and fun at the same time.” To be exact the Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter added that it is a “..friendly punch in the face.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

A revelation that will surely endear her more to her Filipino fans was when she disclosed that her daughter’s grandmother is a Filipina, which makes her daughter part Filipino. Asked about her daughter and balancing her career as a performer and a mom, Nelly Furtado described her as someone who enjoys music at a young age. She said that since she became a mom, “(she) I strive to be a good model to my children.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

The August 16 concert will feature upcoming rap rock group Gym Class Heroes as well. An MTV VMA Best New Artist awardee in 2007
