NBA Players to Cover the Salaries of Arena Workers During the COVID-19 Outbreak

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has indefinitely suspended the season because of the COVID-19 outbreak; some of the NBA players actually tested positive for it. Having noticed the effect this would have on basketball arena workers, New Orleans Pelicans’ Zion Williamson has recently made an awesome announcement on Instagram.

He states that he will be paying for the salaries of the Smoothie King Center employees for an entire month in order to help the NBA and its supporting crew during this pandemic.

Zion isn’t the only one helping out, either. Earlier this week, several other basketball players also announced that they would be donating $100,000 (Php5.1 million) each to employees: Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Fiserv Forum, Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, and Detroit Pistons’ Blake Griffin to the Little Caesars Arena. Hats off to these awesome men!
