For the past 45 years, the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) has remained the most prestigious and biggest national musical competitions for young Filipino musicians.

Founded in 1973, the NAMCYA has continued to discover and develop Filipino musical artists. Through the many decades of the competition, it has produced numerous choral groups, Rondalla ensembles, and solo instrument artists, as well as educators, researchers, and prominent people in various fields.

The NAMCYA continues to propagate Filipino music through its commissioned works which become part of the Philippine music literature. Likewise, it is instrumental in preserving and nurturing Philippine traditions through the Rondalla and Traditional Music Categories.

This year’s categories include Junior Voice, Junior Piano, Junior Strings, Guitar, and Youth Solo Rondalla Instrument for the Solo Categories. For the Group Categories: Children ‘s Rondalla Ensemble, Youth Choir – Equal Voices, Youth Choir – Mixed Voices, and Traditional Music Category (open for solos and ensembles).

Entries must be submitted until July 27, 2018. To join, visit bit.ly/NAMCYA2018

Three concerts are also lined up to celebrate the 45th year. More details will be made available soon.

The NAMCYA is greatly supported by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and Commission on Higher Education (CHEd). The NAMCYA is a Resident Company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).
