The Senior Council held its first major activity of the year: Musika: A benefit concert for the Philippine Toy Library featuring local bands Callalily, Itchyworms, Hulyo, Frixion, Awesowithoutme, and Paranoid City. Although doors were opened at 5:00 pm, some students were already found lined up outside the auditorium as early as 4:30 to get the best seats in the venue.
At 6:30 pm, an ice breaker was initiated by Wana Guevarra where volunteer participants competed in pairs.
For each round, a portion of a song was played and the first person to correctly name the song and its singer won a one hundred pesos worth of gift certificate from major sponsor Wicked Waffle.
The event officially started at 6:45 with hosts DJ Cj and Junior Jock Kevin, both from media sponsor Magic 89.9, introducing the first performers for the night: Hulyo. Hulyo is composed of four long-time friends whose songs fall under pop/rock/alternative music. Students enjoyed listening to their songs; Ligaya, Diba ang Sabi Mo, Kahit Isang Saglit and Liwanag; all of which were original compositions.

Bands Hulyo, Frixion, Awesomewithoutme, and Paranoid City proved how talented Filipinos are through their original compositions and song covers.
Next to perform was the all-girl acoustic band Frixion. Also composed of long-time friends, Frixion started playing during their sophomore year back in high school. Their jamming sessions encouraged them to eventually form a band and do covers of well-loved songs across different genres. They serenaded the crowd with love songs for both the in-love and heart-broken. These songs include Tadhana, Di mo Lang Alam, Sweetest Mistake, and Pag-ibig which the crowd loved singing with.
The band Awesowithoutme which was composed of 4 men and 1 girl drummer performed next. Also started as friends back in high school, their different influences and tastes in music did not hinder them from forming a band. The band energized the crowd with song covers of Kislap, Paano, Summer 2011, and We are the Kids your Parents Warned You.
Paranoid City was up next starting with their song Here we are, Here we go. The band, composed of 4 members that include Miriam College professor Eric Romero as the drummer, started back in June 2009.
Besides the local gigs they have had for the past few years, they have also played in the Popscene Stage of the culture One Outdoor Dance Music Festival in 2012 in Bangkok, Thailand alongside with bands from the UK, US, and many other countries. The band played three more songs including More Than This and Hello Strange which were all original songs.
In between the performances from these bands, hosts DJ Cj and junior jock Kevin asked the crowd some questions which topics ranged on Magic 89.9, the school and music in general. Students who came first to the stage and answered the questions correctly each won a Rastaclats bracelet from Magic 89.9
The long wait finally ended as Kean Cipriano and the other members of the band Callalily entered the stage. The crowd was not able to resist standing up and coming near the stage as they listened and jammed intently on the band’s songs. Girls went screaming as Kean sang Pansamantala and Magbalik. Callalily is an alternative rock band that was formed in the year 2006.
Over the years, the band has already gained numerous awards including OPM Songhits Music Awards Best Band of the Year in 2007, Most Promising Recording Group given by GMMSF Box-Office Entertainment Awards in 2008, and Most Popular Recording/Performing Group in 2014, also given by GMMSF Box-Office Entertainment.
Itchyworms rocked the crowd next as they performed their famous songs including Akin ka na lang, Penge Naman Ako Niyan, and After All This Time. Itchyworms was formed in 1996 where they initially performed in school-based events and competitions with covers of the famous band the Beatles. In 2001, they released their first album entitled Little Monsters and was soon followed by other albums including Noontime Show, Self-Titled, and After All This Time.
All the attendees came home with goodies from the event sponsors including Nissin Yakisoba, Jack ‘n Jill Wafrets Brix nad Mogu Mogu. Over-all, it was surely a night to remember for the crowd; good music was played, selfies with idols were taken, and tummies were filled.
