The Origin of ‘I Love You 3000’ from Avengers: Endgame Will Melt Your Heart

We’ve all yet to recover from the emotional trip that Avengers: Endgame brought us along on. The brilliant culmination of the first 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe gave us iconic superheroes we aren’t ready to let go of, hilarious jokes we still laugh at no matter how many times we’ve heard it, and memorable lines we can’t help but use in our daily conversations.

One of those memorable lines was delivered by Tony Stark’s daughter Morgan, who professed her love for her father with “I love you, 3000.”

Morgan Stark I Love You 3000

It quickly became the best line from the whole movie. But the story behind it is even more heartwarming than you’d expect.

According to the directors of Avengers: Endgame, they got the line from Robert Downey Jr.’s own kids. Anthony Russo revealed that Robert Downey Jr. told them one day about one of his children telling him “I love you 3000” which they thought was so endearing that they had to include it somewhere in the script.

Isn’t that so adorable?
