The Samahan ng mga Manunulat na Pilipino, Inc. (SMPI), together with the Leisure and Tourism Management LT 110 M.I.C.E. Management class of Miriam College 2022 will have their 2nd National Conference Publishers Roadshow 2022, Future of Publication: Embracing and Adapting to Challenges, Potentials, and Opportunities on November 26, 2022.
It is not the first time that SMPI and Miriam College, MICE Management Class have partnered to curate this big event for our Filipino writers and authors. Last 2018, they launched the first conference entitled “Authors and Writers National Conference 2018″ with the theme: Building Opportunities and Breakthroughs”.
The SMPI is an organization registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission in 2015 and founded by five accomplished authors who are also professors and practitioners of their craft: Dr. Norberto A. Orcullo, Jr., Dr. Robert G. Medina, Mr. Roberto Z. Palma, Mr. Bartolome R. Urbano, and Ms. Solita A. Frias. Established in 2015 to develop programs and activities supporting the local publishing industry and Filipino authors in the country.
About 2ND AWNC: Publishers Roadshow 2022
In the modern and globalized world, it is more crucial than ever to preserve and advance one’s culture to support and represent our national identity globally through writing. The SMPI’s conference this 2022 will again serve as an avenue for our authors and writers to connect and present their work of craft and passion, as well as boost their skills and potential in research and writing related to the creation and publication of books and other works of literature in various formats and platforms. SMPI has been developing programs and activities to support the local publishing industry and Filipino authors. With this, launching a hybrid conference after two years of lockdown is an excellent way to adapt to new changes brought by the pandemic and to experience and revive the traditional passing and presenting of ideas and concepts of writing and publishing.
Keynote Speaker and Publishing Companies
At the morning session, the conference will have Mr. Dante Francis M. Ang II as the keynote speaker. He has a significant depth of experience, having lived in three (3) countries and traveled to more than a dozen others in North America, Europe, and Asia. He will share extensively about the skill set that has led him to be a thought leader in the field of writing and share a personal outlook on the future of the publication.
The conference will also hold a panel discussion between the different publishing companies of the country from REX Education, Unlimited Books Publishing, ABIVA Publishing House Inc., C&E Publishing Inc., Brilliant Creations Publishing Inc., and St. Augustine Publications, Inc. (SAPI) respectively. Their invited speakers will not only give us a glimpse of their profession but discuss the challenges, potentials, and opportunities of book publishing as well. Furthermore, the afternoon session is to inspire and empower what beholds the future of publication; by the invited authors of the conference who will share their own message of hope.
Registration and Attire
Registration fees to the conference are priced at 1,000 PHP for onsite participants who will be attending at the Miriam College – Henry Sy, Sr. Innovation Center that is inclusive of AM Snacks and lunch, 700 PHP for online participants via the Zoom Platform, a promo of 3+1 wherein a purchase of three (3) registrants with one (1) slot to be given free.
Onsite participants are required to attend the conference wearing smart casual- attire.
