Mimi & Bros: For Your Chicken Fix in BGC

In my honest opinion, fried chicken is the “great equalizer” as there is always a high chance that someone from the group will order a chicken dish. Also, when you cannot make up your mind, chicken is always a great answer!

Mimi & Bros opened its doors earlier this year at Crossroads in BGC and has been serving up a storm of chicken, ribs, and booze to foodies within Bonifacio Global City. The ribs are delicious and while I’m always up for a cold brew, perfecting the staple has became the obsession at Mimi & Bros.

Chicken Fingers with Molten Cheese Dip – Php290

To start, we were served tender and delicious Chicken Fingers and Molten Cheese Dip! The chicken is crispy and the dip is cheesy.

A twist to a traditional favorite, you will fresh greens on top of a generous layer of fried chicken thighs, arugula, parmesan cheese, and instead of the traditional egg-based dressing, a whole fried egg (because why not?)

Dirty Bird Chicken Pizza – Php295; Mimi & Bros.’ Fried Chicken Sandwich – Php285

The Dirty Bird Chicken Pizza involves pounded and flattened chicken thighs to serve as the “bread” or base, while the Mimi & Bros.’ Fried Chicken Sandwich has house fried chicken housed between brioche buns. It is served with their special sauce.

Extensive R&D was done for all of their sauces. Out of the nine, I highly recommend the Hot Honey for an extra layer of spiciness and sweetness that complements the fried chicken. The Cilantro Sour Cream, on the other hand, adds freshness to the dishes.

The inspiration for their Everything Chicken campaign is going back to the basics and not overcomplicating the dishes while still serving the best products possible. There is a healthy obsession in perfecting a dish and it took them everyday of three months to perfect their house fried chicken, which easily rivals the Southern style fried chicken I had in Nashville, Tennessee. The serving size is just as big, just as crunchy, and just as juicy! It would have been perfect if they also served Southern style white gravy and biscuits!

Mimi & Bros.’ Cheesy Fried Chicken – Whole: Php725, Half: Php495.00, Quarter: Php295

Without a doubt, the dish of the day was Mimi & Bros.’ Cheesy Fried Chicken. The first thing that came to mind when I first saw it was, “Will it work?” All doubts were set aside after the first bite, though. It is as good as their house fried chicken and the cheese adds another dimension to the dish. It might come out as too salty for some, but a dab of the Hot Honey sauce balances it out and raises the flavor profile up another notch.

Mimi & Bros is a welcome addition to Bonifacio Global City. Plus, since the place is just a few blocks away from my office, I definitely know where to go now whenever I need a chicken fix.
