Since Michael Martinez participated at the 2014 Winter Olympics held in Sochi, Russia; he has been the perennial figure of #ProudPinoys. Being the first Filipino figure skater to compete at the prestigious event, he has also been receiving much love and support from fans alike. Truly something to be proud of!

Michael regards the Olympics as one of his “most memorable moments” in his figure skating career. In fact, he also considered of “doing Filipino music” in the near future as he is doing “something new”.

Figure skating requires you to be flexible (literally and figuratively) in all areas – to garner points in technical and artistic aspects and of course to balance other priorities such as being a student. Although Michael confesses that he’s more of a jumper than a spinner, he nailed all those spirals and poses while balancing on one foot – let alone on a blade!

Move over Kim Bok-Joo – Michael is now EVERYONE’S OPPA. But did you know that he’s half Japanese? He has also been expressive on social media how much he admires Japanese culture, particularly anime series.
