Mayor Isko confirmed that Tondo was among the Manila districts with a high number of COVID-19 cases. According to the Manila Health Department, there are 94 and 61 confirmed cases in Tondo’s District 1 and District 2, respectively, as of writing.

He added that they are studying the impact of the hard lockdown on the commercial activities of Tondo, such as the Divisoria Night Market and the passage of cargoes, and are thus making careful preparations.

No specific date has been set for the 48-hour lockdown, but Mayor Isko told ANC’s Headstart that he is targetting this weekend, either May 2 and 3 or May 3 and 4, after consulting with the industries located around the Manila port.

He also assured Tondo residents that food and aid will be provided during this period.
