In case you weren’t aware, Maya Hawke isn’t just an actress; she’s got musical talent too!
The “Stranger Things” star has announced that her sophomore album, “MOSS,” will be released on September 23rd (via Mom+Pop Music). The announcement was made during her appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
Following the release of her critically acclaimed debut album “Blush,” Hawke’s second album, which was written by herself in collaboration with Benjamin Lazar Davis, Christian Lee Hutson, and Will Graefe, serves as her meditation on rebirth and acceptance.
“This record is called ‘MOSS’ because I’ve been gathering a lot in the last few years,” Hawke says about the album. “Sitting still and collecting a green blanket of memories and feelings. Making this record was me trying to get up and shake it off and look at all of it. It was the first step in untangling myself and really trying to look at the rock under the moss.”
The album’s debut single, “Thérèse,” gives a stunning glimpse of the new record and is available to stream and download now. Hawke says about the single, “Thérèse is inspired by a painting but about feeling hemmed in and stuck. Stuck as the version of yourself that someone else created.
“MOSS” is now available for pre-order and pre-save worldwide on all platforms and via her webstore where fans will also be able to pre-order additional exclusive items such as the MOSS Deluxe Box designed by Hawke herself.
