Marvel fans are buzzing right now because Marvel Studios has finally revealed their Phase 4 slate during their San Diego Comic-Con Hall H panel! Marvel recently closed out Phase 3 with Spider-Man: Far From Home and has refused to announce anything before the said event, which meant months and months of speculation from fans and critics alike.
From casting rumors to movie leaks, everyone was teeming with excitement because of how Phase 3 wrapped up. With Iron Man and Steve Rogers’ Captain America gone, where will the universe go from there?

Well, the question has been answered and it looks like we have a thrilling two years ahead of us. Marvel’s Phase 4 will run from 2020-2021 and will include not only movies, but mini-series, as well! Here’s the full lineup:
Black Widow (May 1, 2020)
After months of stalking the Black Widow production, Marvel finally gave fans what they wanted and confirmed that the Black Widow movie is indeed happening. With Scarlett Johansson returning as Natasha Romanoff, it’ll follow events between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, as well as delve deeper into Natasha’s past. The film also stars Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, another Black Widow, along with Rachel Weisz, David Harbour, and O-T Fagbenle. It’ll be the MCU’s first offering for Phase 4.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier (Fall 2020)
Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan are reprising their roles as Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes respectively. The duo’s adventures will consist of six episodes and will feature Daniel Bruhl returning as Zemo (Captain America: Civil War). During the SDCC panel, Daniel was shown in a video donning a purple mask, which looked a lot like his comic book counterpart’s, and told Mackie and Stan that he’ll be seeing them soon. It will also follow Sam’s transition into becoming the new Captain America. The mini-series is set to come out in the fall of 2020.

Eternals (November 6, 2020)
After months of talk about who’ll play who, Marvel Studios has finally announced the Eternals cast! The Eternals are an evolved sub-race of humans that have been experimented on by all-powerful entities called the Celestials. Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, Don Lee (Ma Dong-Seok), and Angelina Jolie are all confirmed to be starring. The film will be directed by Chloe Zhao. There is no news about the plot yet, but take a look at this lineup!

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (February 2021)
Shang-Chi is the first Asian-led MCU film and will star Simu Liu in the titular role. Starring alongside him is Tony Leung as the Mandarin, who was introduced to us in Iron Man 3, but we never actually got to see for real, and Awkwafina in a still undisclosed role. Marvel shares that Liu was cast just last Tuesday, July 16! The film is obviously still in its very early stages, but it will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and will be out in February 2021.

Wandavision (Spring 2021)
Scarlet Witch and Vision will be getting their own mini-series, as well! It will take place after the events of Avengers: Endgame. How Vision is going to fit into a post-Endgame world where he’s supposed to be dead is still a question on everyone’s minds, but Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany will be reprising their roles.

Loki (Spring 2021)
Yet another mini-series, Loki will follow the adventures of the God of Mischief himself as he plays with the Tesseract he stole in the time-traveling sequence in Avengers: Endgame. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige shared that the series will tell us what happened to Loki after that. The series will not feature the newly reformed Loki from Thor: Ragnarok, but will instead feature the old, “bad” Loki. The series is set to come out in May 2021.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (May 2021)
The second Doctor Strange film will apparently be the “first scary MCU film”, according to director Scott Derrickson. The movie will dive further into the multiverse and Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch) will be starring alongside Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange. It’s a direct tie-in with the WANDAVISION series. No further details have been announced yet, but it’s set to come out in May 2021.

What If…? (Summer 2021)
What if…? is going to be the MCU’s first-ever animated series. According to Kevin Feige, the show will feature, well, what-if scenarios that revolve around the cast of characters in the MCU’s roster. Original MCU cast members will return to voice their specific characters. Among these actors are Sebastian Stan, Hayley Atwell, Taika Waititi, and Chadwick Boseman.

Hawkeye (Fall 2021)
Crowds at SDCC’s Hall H screamed when Jeremy Renner appeared to announce the Hawkeye mini-series. According to the actor and Feige, Hawkeye will follow Clint Barton as he trains a new power-less superhero. The trainee is apparently Kate Bishop, who also takes up the monicker of Hawkeye in the comic books. It will also give us a peek at Barton’s life when he was living as Ronin during the five-year “blip”. Marvel has yet to announce who will be playing Kate Bishop.

Thor: Love and Thunder (November 5, 2021)
Hot on the heels of the announcement that Taika Waititi is coming back to direct Thor 4; Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and Natalie Portman came onto the panel to talk about the upcoming film. Taika teased that the film will follow The Mighty Thor comic book arc where Jane Foster (Natalie) becomes Lady Thor. He proceeded to hand over the Mjolnir to the actress, driving the crowd wild. Chris, on the other hand, shared that he hasn’t read the script yet because Taika wouldn’t give it to him. The film is set to come out in November 2021.
