Markus Paterson and Janella Salvador Speak Out After Netizens Make Fun of Baby’s Looks

Markus Paterson and Janella Salvador could no longer keep silent after screenshots of people on Facebook making fun of their newborn baby son’s looks started circulating on social media.

In a series of tweets, the couple expressed their ire against netizens who joked about Baby Jude’s appearance based on photos uploaded by actress Erich Gonzales. The couple shared the screenshots of the comments without censoring the names and faces of the netizens as a warning to anyone who will try to speak ill of their child again in the future.

“Let’s be honest. I’m no stranger to bashing. But come for my son and I will come for you. People like this make me sick, wala pang isang taon anak ko (my son is barely a year old) and y’all [are] making fun of a NEWBORN. Not gonna erase the names, proud n’yo eh (since you’re so proud),” Markus said in his tweet.

Janella added: “Your humor must be really f***ed up to make fun of a baby. I can take all the bashing in the world directed at me with grace, but direct it at my innocent son and you’ll definitely hear from me.”

“I don’t want any more negativity on my page but I am in disbelief at how cruel people can really be,” she said in another tweet. “I just want you to know that I am prepared to do what is right by me and my son.”

The couple also shared that the original posters of the negative comments have reached out to them to apologize. Although they have accepted their remorse, Markus lamented how these people most likely wouldn’t have realized their errors had they not been caught.

“The sad thing is, these people will cry about it claiming they’re sorry. If you weren’t caught would you have been sorry?” he wrote. “Hindi lang yun. 5 months old na bata. (That’s not all. It’s about a 5-month-old baby.) 5 MONTHS OLD.”

“I’m not usually this vocal, especially about bashing. But my son is a different story, my baby boy is my flesh and blood and I would take a bullet for him. I thought I’d seen it all, but hating on a newborn baby has truly shocked me. Imagine if it was your child?” he continued.

In Janella’s final tweet on the issue, she said, “Social media, freedom of speech and having your own opinion DO NOT give you the right to be rude and to cyber-bully. Some of you really need to learn your lesson so be ready for your consequences.”
