Mario Maurer in Pee Mak: Movie Review and Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Watch It

Mario Maurer has been every girl’s dream guy ever since his movie A Little Thing Called Love was released in the Philippines. The Filipino ladies’ hearts melted even more when he released his movie Suddenly it’s Magic with our very own Erich Gonzales. He found his way into stardom and his recent movie “Pee Mak” became one of the highest grossing films in Thailand, garnering over 33million dollars after it was released. Well, I’ve got some good news for you, Star Cinema is bringing “Pee Mak” to the Philippines this August 28!

When In Manila and a fan of horror, comedy or maybe just a fan of Mario Maurer, then you should definitely catch Pee Mak this August 28, 2013.

A few days ago, a few fans and members of the media were privileged to meet Mario Maurer for a quick interview at Trinoma. He was such a cutie and everyone just went gaga! I wish I could’ve taken a picture with him but this photo will do for now.

After the interview, we were led to Cinema 7 where we got to watch Pee Mak in the Philippines for the first time. Mario Maurer himself as well as Director Banjong Pisanthanakun joined us for the first half.

Pee Mak the Movie: About the Director

I’m not very familiar with director names, but this is one name you guys should definitely remember. Banjong Pisanthanakun graduated, majoring in Film, from Chulalongkorn University in the year 1999.  His first short film Plae Kao was a Finalist Best Picture & Best Screenplay for Click Radio comedy short film competition in Bangkok 2000.

Banjong has created around 7 other films and has won numerous awards in the field of cinematography. One of his most well-known movies here in the Philippines is Shutter. I personally didn’t watch the film (‘coz I was really scared!) but I heard it had audience members on the edge of their seats. This same director now brings you a film like no other, a film that will have you screaming, laughing and crying all at the same time: “Pee Mak” the movie.

Pee Mak the Movie: About the Movie

Pee Mak is based on the legend of Mae Nak Phra Khanong (Lady Nak of Phra Khanong). The story is usually told from Lady Nak’s point of view, in Pee Mak however, it’s Mak’s turn to tell his story. Mario Maurer plays Mark, who was better called “Mak” in the movie, meaning man. “Pee” on the other hand means brother, and is usually used as a term of respect. (Just like -san in Japan)

I give the movie a 5 out of 5! The lighting, make up, costumes, props, actors, music and everything else just jived together perfectly.  I personally LOVED the movie and highly recommend you guys to watch it with your barkadas and friends.
