Marikina and Quezon City Confirm Having One COVID-19 Case Each

Local officials of both Quezon City and Marikina City have confirmed having one coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) case each this Monday morning.

Mayor Joy Belmonte revealed that Quezon City’s patient is a resident of its first district and has been isolated at a hospital. The patient is among the 10 confirmed cases of the Department of Health.

Belmonte assured her constituents that the local government would be tackling this development today. She urged the citizens to refrain from panicking and to consult a doctor if they feel unwell.

Marikina’s Public Information Office released the information that their COVID-19 patient is an 86-year old senior citizen with travel history to South Korea.

Marikina Mayor Marcelino Teodoro assured the public that containment measures and contact tracing of those who interacted with the patient have already been ordered. Classes in all levels have been suspended until Wednesday, March 11.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines is currently at 10. The Department of Health reminds everyone to take precautionary measures against the virus
