Marian Orchard FAITH Foundation Inc has received certification in Environmental Planning from the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program (ACSP), an Audubon International program designed to help landowners preserve and enhance the environmental quality of their property.

“The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program gives people an opportunity to do something good for the environment right where they live, work, and recreate,” explained Jessica Latus, Director of Sustainable Community Programs for Audubon International. “We welcome Marian Orchard’s commitment to managing the property in an environmentally-sensitive manner.”

By joining and participating in the ACSP, Marian Orchard will be involved in projects that enhance habitat for wildlife and preserve natural resources for the benefit of the local community. These projects may include: placing nesting boxes for cavity-nesting birds such as bluebirds and swallows, utilizing integrated pest management techniques, conserving water, and publishing articles about their environmental achievements.

“The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program benefits both people and wildlife,” said Latus. “It’s a great way for businesses and environmental organizations to work together to become better stewards of the land and natural resources.”

Marian Orchard president Amada J. Javellana said. “This Audubon certification is a testament to Marian Orchard’s commitment not only to promote faith-based tourism, but to support efforts for an ecologically sustainable tourism. Our next step now is to involve the community in the campaign to take care of our environment through our partner and adopted schools in Balete, Malvar, Tanauan, and Lipa.”
