Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao will soon be immortalized — in wax! The boxing champion will soon be getting his own wax figure at Madame Tussauds in Hong Kong.
The museum only just made the announcement this December 17. “Here’s a sneak peek of what’s to come this 2020. Let’s all welcome the newest addition to @madametussaudshongkong’s line-up of star athletes, boxing champ Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao @mannypacquiao! Meet Manny’s wax figure soon. Stay tuned for more updates,” said the museum in an Instagram post.

“I’m very honored they chose me,” said Pacquiao of the inclusion. “Masaya ako na maitataas ko muli ang bandera ng Pilipinas sa ganitong paraan. [I am happy to be raising the Philippine flag once again for this occasion.] Madame Tussauds Hong Kong has many personalities including my fellow athletes and excited ako na makatabi ko sila doon [I am excited to be joining them].”
Pacquiao will be joining personalities like Pia Wurtzbach and Benedict Cumberbatch as well as superheroes like Spider-man and Iron Man.

A press statement reveals that the boxer has already had his measurements taken for the wax figure. It supposedly took a total of 6 hours for the measurements to be completed. Despite that, Pacquiao is said to have “stayed in good spirits” the whole time.
Madame Tussauds Hong Kong senior marketing manager BoBo Yu said of the addition: “The Philippines continues to be one of our strongest markets and having Manny Pacquaio who is known globally for his achievements in sports is an honor for us. He is one personality that the attraction has been wanting to have and we cannot wait for the Filipino fans to see the figure in 2020.”
