When In Manila and excited for MNG’s F/W 2011 collection so I saved the date and rushed to The Plaza at Resorts World Manila to give you the low down  on one of Manila’s hottest brand’s new collection fresh from the runways!

Went backstage to check out the preparations, accessories and personally, the fabric choices!

The show was styled by 5 of Manila’s up and coming stylists: Teej Nepomuceno, Myrrh Lao to, Patrick galang, Bianca santiago-Reinoso and Preview’s editorial assistant Anna Canlas. They were all tasked to showcase Mango’s collection through different aesthetic feels and trends: Modern Mystique, Alluring Androgyny, Nudes and Neutrals, Glamorous Getaway and Oriental Opulence.

Familiar faces and supermodels Ria Bolivar, Pauline Prieto, Jessica Yang and the likes were prepping for the catwalk during technical rehearsals. Models ranged from different ethnicity and race. It was refreshing to see this. Proving Mango’s shades, tones, cuts and most importantly, fit really was for every woman.

The Review:  Modern Mystique showcased leggings, sheers and casual everyday looks. Alluring Androgyny  had wool, denim, leopard, military green on it’s color palette, and was going for that whole “corporate chic” look. I personally loved the mix of fabrics in one garment. That whole leather and cotton together gave the “going out” look a definite edge with the use of texture. Nudes and Neutrals had beautiful draped dresses, chiffon scarves, Aztec printed neutrals (which was quite clever since Aztec is printed usually with bold colors) this trend is a so feminine and every girl had to sport this! Glamorous Getaway was mostly a mix of leopard with nudes, reds with blacks, nude camel and salmon colors and it had this leopard one shoulder dress that reminded me of Lanvin’s signature dress. really pretty. This trend is for the constant jet setter! Oriental Opulence had reds, blues, oranges. Mixtures of satins and jersey. My favorite would be the emerald toned dress. Chic Oriental trend! Well done, Anna Canlas (who styled this set) 🙂
