This June 15, the University of the Philippines Pre-Medical Society invites everyone to witness Clark Kent’s transformation into Superman as he returns to the big screen, as portrayed by Henry Cavill in Zack Snyder’s action-packed motion picture, Man of Steel. The story tells us about the origin of Clark Kent, brought to Earth from the dying Planet Krypton and raised as one of us, struggling to fit in to this world. When the aliens attack, he is forced to protect the world, assuming the title of Superman.
The movie screening will be held in Trinoma Cinema 7, 7 pm of the said Saturday, with tickets priced at P300 and reserved seating. Sponsors from a wide variety of consumer products have helped the organization promote the activity. Co-presentors include Slate Planner and David’s Salon, which will be giving out gift certificates for raffle in the event. Chubby Chicken is also a co-presentor, providing discount coupons to everyone who will be watching. Major sponsors include Raintree Restaurants and Mr. Jones, which will also be raffling out gift certificates for their franchises. Minor sponsors include PaoPao Xiao Chi Katipunan which will be providing discounts to those who will present their tickets upon ordering in their establishment, Cha Dao Tea Place and Manang’s Chicken which will be providing raffle prizes, Krispy Kreme which will be giving out boxes of a dozen Original Glazed Donuts, and Sun Prince TBA Corporation which will be exhibiting their latest tire models. The U.P. Pre-medical Society screens Man of Steel as a fund raiser to fuel its upcoming pre-medical and socio-civic activities. These include, but are not limited to, a Blood Drive this July 5 for the benefit of the Philippine General Hospital Blood Bank, a Capoiera or Social Dance event for the students of UP this August, the annual Medical Talks and NMAT Review this coming September, and the Aral sa Kwento at Pasyal which will tour children around museums as slated in October. Needless to say, the Society seeks to make everyone realize that they can be heroes in their own ways, as well as to make them appreciate the value of hope which the movie is heavily centered on.
