Makati Medical Center Responds to Senator Koko Pimentel’s Apology: “Noted”

The Makati Medical Center released a statement in response to Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III’s apology for breaching quarantine protocols.

Senator Pimentel earlier drew the ire of the public after bringing his pregnant wife to the hospital despite his positive status as a coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patient. The senator apologized to MMC but claimed that he “never intended to breach any protocol.”

“We hereby take note of the apology of Senator Pimentel for such breach,” MMC Medical Director Saturnino Javier said in a statement on Wednesday. “And we are pleased that the Department of Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III has concurred that, indeed, breach was committed.”

Javier thanked the general public as well the Philippine Medical Association and the Philippine College of Physicians “for the outpouring of support” in their denouncement of Senator Pimentel.

“Let us all move forward and urge the MMC community to focus our energies, skills, and passion once again toward conquering the virulent pathogen confronting us – COVID 19. I hope that in our magnanimity, we will all be rewarded with more blessings as we face the real enemy,” the statement concludes.
