LOVE: This is Not Yet a Musical The Second Time Around, Sipat Lawin Ensemble’s LOVENot for 2014
Launching Season HEART ATTACK 2014 and co-presented by Erehwon Arts Center, Sipat Lawin Ensemble and Friends’ massive performance heart work LOVENot returns in February as LOVE: This is Not Yet a Musical (The Second Time Around)! Dubbed as the Guiness-bound “biggest crowd-sourced play” with more than 500 contributions, 300+ contributors and collaborators (notable collaborators are Leeroy New, OG Sacred, Daniel Darwin aka Astroboy, and Speak Philippines among others), LOVENot is possibly the biggest inter-active crowd-sourced performance of our time!
The idea is simple: to document present-day thoughts on Love.
The work is complex: a modern day myth based on our collective consciousness.
After the hit staging of Battalia Royale in 2012, Sipat Lawin Ensemble offers LOVENot, its first original site-specific devised production. A large-scale cross-cultural collaboration, it brings together the written, captured, and performed works of hundreds of individuals, in an interactive, inter-media and multimedia “mass” gathering. In this communal event, both artists and audiences take part as fragments of the gods Init, Lamig, Tanaw and Alaala in a modern day mythology about LOVE – all kinds and types of love – and how it is felt, heard, seen, experienced, perceived and manifested in the everyday and everywhere.
For this run, LOVENot will be held at Erehwon Arts Center, an arts and performance space that is a gallery, an old bakery, and printing press all rolled into one. The LOVENot journey will be explored as both audience and actors travel throughout the building as they experience the different love gods, with the performance culminating on the rooftop, under the stars as if entering a NEWLY-CREATED LOVE UNIVERSE.
