Filmmaker Kenji Kamiyama has teamed up with Warner Bros. Animation and New Line Cinema to create the animated film titled “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.” Set 250 years prior to the events of the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, the prequel will follow the story of the legendary ninth King of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand, and the untold history behind Helm’s Deep.

This anime is set to be a “companion” piece to the films. It will be written by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews who are the co-creators of the fantasy puppet series, “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.”

Kamiyama is known for directing Japanese television shows “Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex” and “Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG,” among many others.

It has yet to be revealed who will be included in the voice cast and when we can expect this movie to premiere but one thing’s for sure: we’ll definitely be looking forward to it!
