For over two years, Filipino fans everywhere have been waiting patiently for the animated Netflix adaptation of a well-loved local graphic novel, “Trese,” created by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo.
Now, Netflix just revealed the actress who has been chosen to voice the indomitable lead character, Alexandra Trese. And it’s none other than Liza Soberano!
Liza took to Twitter to share the good news and to express her excitement and gratitude over her new role.
“Screaming on the inside!!!!!! It’s an honor to be the voice of an iconic character such as Alexandra Trese. I’m a huge fan of Budjette and KaJO’s award-winning Trese comics. Maraming salamat! Excited nako!” she gushed.
Liza will be voicing the Trese in the Filipino dub of the series.
Netflix also revealed that “You” actress Shay Mitchell, who is of Filipino descent, will be voicing the character in the English dub.

Set in Manila where the mythical creatures of Philippine folklore live in hiding amongst humans, “Trese” follows Alexandra Trese traveling all over the city and going head-to-head with a criminal underworld comprised of malevolent supernatural beings.
