Live a WAHMderful Life as a Work-at-Home Mom

Live a WAHMderful Life as a Work-at-Home Mom

When in Manila and you are a mom, chances are you’ve thought about giving up or have already given up a career to raise your child as a stay-at-home mom. While many women want to make this decision, financial constraints can be a burden.

Martine de Luna, blogger of www.daintymom.com, faced this challenge a few years back when her now 4-year old son was born. She realized that she wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, yet did not want to give up working.  Searching the Internet for work-at-home opportunities, Martine found a new career path as a freelance writer and eventually became a copywriter for an American firm. Being able to fulfill both her visions of staying at home with her son and working at the same time, Martine soon decided that she wanted to help other moms find the same work-life balance.

Teaming up with Manila Workshops, the WAHMderful Life was born in June of 2012, a support group for moms that wanted to be or were already WAHMs: “Work-at-Home Moms”. In just a little over a year this Facebook-based support community grew from 9 members to 900. The WAHMderful Life has quarter yearly workshops in Metro Manila that help mothers go into various work-from-home employments, such as:

  • Virtual assistants
  • Social media managers
  • Freelance writers
  • Mompreneurs (Mothers starting their own businesses).
