Lebron James Breaks NBA’s All-Time Scoring Record

Today, Lebron James made history by breaking the National Basketball Association (NBA)’s all-time scoring record!

Lebron played for the Los Angeles Lakers today against Oklahoma City Thunder, scoring a total of 38,390 points at the conclusion of the game. The power forward got to shoot his 38,388th shot by the third quarter, making his way ahead of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record of 38,387 points in the totality of his career. Jabbar, who was present at the game, gave his successor a standing ovation.

Prior to the most-anticipated basketball game, Lebron was 36 points shy from the set record. Tickets to today’s game skyrocketed to 40K USD (roughly PHP 2 million), and among the audience who witnessed history being made was Beyoncé‘s husband Jay-Z.

During halftime, it seems that Lebron took inspiration and motivation from his sons, Bronny and Bryce James. He asked them, “Do you want me to go and get it?” “Go ahead,” his firstborn answered. “I’ll get it,” he assured them–and indeed, he did.

Of course, his stats won’t be final as the legendary basketball player is yet to retire from the league. His next game with the LA Lakers will be against Milwaukee Bucks on Friday, February 10 at 11 am (Philippine time).

Unfortunately, the team lost to OKC rounding up at 133 – 130.
