Lea Salonga Calls Out DepEd Module Calling Tattoos a “Criminal Symbol”

Lea Salonga called out a Department of Education (DepEd) learning module that supposedly calls tattoos a symbol for “being a criminal.”

“Okay, someone would need to tell me if this thing is really ok’d by the DepEd,” she wrote on Facebook. “And if so, WHAT KIND OF BS IS THIS???”

The module, which is written in Tagalog, asks, “A tattoo is a symbol of _________.” According to the module, the correct answer to this is “being a criminal.”

Because of this, Salonga, along with many netizens, questioned the module. Lea even said, “I am THIS CLOSE to getting a tattoo, if only to prove a point.”

Okay, someone would need to tell me if this thing is really ok’d by the DepEd. And if so, WHAT KIND OF BS IS THIS???…

This is not the first time DepEd modules were called out online. Netizens also recently called out a class module that called actress Angel Locsin obese, saying that this is a form of body shaming.
