LABYRINTH BALL MANILA 2016: A Vogue Ball by House of Mizrahi

Labyrinth Ball Manila finally makes its debut spin in the Philippines on October 31, 2016 at the Buddha Bar (Makati). Famous for the use of Vogue elements such as hands, catwalk, duckwalk, floor performance, spins and dips, we are taking you to a totally whole new level of dance and fashion fête!

Inspired by the Vogue Magazine, Voguing is characterized by model-like poses integrated with angular, linear, and rigid body movements. This style of dance arose from Harlem ballrooms by African and Latino Americans in the early 1960s and was first danced by black drag queens.

Over the years, the dance evolved into the more intricate and illusory form, that is now called, “Vogue.”

Voguing is sophisticated further as an established dance form that is practiced in ballroom and clubs scenes throughout the United States, mostly playing out the Fifth Avenue scene of New York.

Labyrinth Ball is the first-ever Vogue Ball to hit the country. One of its kind and authentic to its origin, it aims to introduce and eventually institute this style of dancing amongst our Filipino dance and fashion enthusiasts as a genre of freedom of style and expression, an escape from the usual to the contemporary, and ultimately, a celebration of beauty. This year’s ball will showcase the country’s best dancers and models, fashion stylists, makeup and hair artists. This year’s judges include the Legendary Koppi Mizrahi and former Ninjas Lisa and Future, all of whom will fly all the way from Japan and Thailand to witness how the Filipinos can actually compete world-class in this relatively neoteric dance style.
