A Tiktok dance sensation, one of the well-known young leading actresses of the new generation, and an ambassador for plenty of brands and tourism organizations, Kyline Alcantara has definitely become a name to remember in Filipino households.
One trait that makes Kyline stand out on social media and the showbiz industry is her confidence—the way she is unafraid to be herself and to speak her mind, the way she understands what she wants and goes for it wholeheartedly—and one might even say that it’s through her confidence that her beauty shines.
“Dun naman nagsisimula ang lahat,” she tells WhenInManila.com in an exclusive interview. “Whatever makes you feel confident, I’m supportive so mga ganyan. Ako talaga, kung ano yung nagpaparamdam sayo ng confidence, dun ka.”
She shares that it’s her mom who taught her to be proud of who she is, because it’s truly what’s inside that matters.
“Si mama di rin po siya mahilig mag-makeup noon. So sabi niya, yung makeup pampadagdag lang yan sa confidence na dapat nasa loob mo na ever since. And ang isa rin niyang sinabi sakin, try to make other people confident also. Suportahan mo sila, wag mo silang ibababa,” Kyline adds.
“Si mama… grabe, grabe yung inspiration na binigay sakin and yung motivation and support na binigay sakin.”
The newest ambassador for Avon’s Simply Pretty line
It’s all this that makes Kyline the perfect ambassador for Avon’s new Simply Pretty line, a collection of no-fuss and versatile beauty products that just enhance your natural beauty. In fact, Kyline describes it as a “full-circle moment,” recalling how Avon was a significant part of her life growing up, back when her success now had just been a dream of hers to commit to.
“Muntik na akong maiyak,” she gushes, talking about her reaction to the news of her becoming the new Avon ambassador. “Yung mom ko before, nagbebenta siya ng Avon products to survive life. When I was like 11 or 13 hangga’t sa lumipat na ako sa GMA Network, nagbebenta siya ng Avon products. Lahat! Pinasok ni mama lahat. Pag pumupunta ako sa office nila, pag nag-pi-pickup si mama doon, nakikita ko syempre yung mga models, mga artista. Lalo na yung sa mga brochures, nakikita ko na ‘Wow, ang gaganda nilang lahat, sana in the future [ganito rin ako].’ As in! Walang halong exaggeration, yun talaga yung sinasabi ko. Kaya noong nalaman ko na magiging part ako ng Avon, it’s really something else, it’s really something special, cause it’s really close to my heart. Ang sarap po sa pakiramdam.”
“[With] Simply Pretty, it’s also close to my heart because I have the same attitude, I have the same advocacy,” she adds.
When asked what advice she could give to fellow young women to overcome their self-doubt and to feel beautiful on the inside and out, Kyline tells us the importance of understanding where we all come from.
“Cliche man but just love yourself. Ang way ko para mas mahalin ko yung sarili ko, mas kinilala ko yung creator ko which is God. Alam ko kung gaano Niya ako kamahal, alam kong andami Niyang sinakripisyo para sa akin and para sa mga mahal ko sa buhay so sino pa naman ako para hindi mahalin yung sarili ko if my creator loves me,” she says.
“You definitely have a voice. You just need to maybe have a little push and just be confident. Be simply pretty. Be proud of yourself. Always talk to your inner child. You need to heal your inner child also. Know who you are, know your worth, have some self-respect.”
And her best comeback to those who tell her she’s wearing too much makeup? “Talaga! Buti alam mo!” she laughs.
