You know how when you’re walking down Katipunan and you see Common Room and you say “wait, five minutes lang, I just want to look” and you come home with new, quirky earrings or a brush set or even something cute for your little succulent? I love that moment of walking inside, smelling their iconic bamboo scent from their little diffusers and seeing all the cute plushies, the stickers, the locally-made leather goods. Everything about Common Room gave me a healthy dose of serotonin.
Well, Katip friends, it’s time to say goodbye.

“It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to Common Room’s first home in Katipunan,” they wrote on Facebook.
“Exactly 5 years ago today, we opened its doors for the first time to you. We sincerely believe, though, that the best way to celebrate its anniversary is to ensure that the community survives this pandemic, even if it meant saying goodbye to the home that paved the way for our other homes.”
It’s so sad that they’re closing on their anniversary of all days. We’re so sad to see you go, Common Room. You were truly a gem in the wilderness of Katipunan Avenue. You are loved.
