Karen Davila Reminds People to Not Judge an Actor’s Decision to Leave a Network

Amid the news that Bea Alonzo transferred from ABS-CBN Network to GMA-7, journalist and broadcaster Karen Davila put out a Tweet reminding the Filipino public to respect a celebrity’s decisions when it comes to advancing their career.

Without mentioning names, Davila wrote: “Let us be slow in casting judgment over a person’s decision to leave. Hindi po natin alam ang buong kuwento. Lahat naman po tayo kailangang magtrabaho. Maliit po ang industriya. Bilog po ang mundo. Magkikita kita rin tayo. (We don’t know the whole story. We all need to work. The industry is very small. The world keeps spinning. We will all meet again.) All will work out in God’s time.”

A netizen then asked to clarify what the tweet was alluding to. Davila then confirmed that it was in reaction to the commotion regarding Alonzo’s transfer. “Too much negativity on social media today over a transfer. To each his own. Kalma lang. (Let’s calm down.)”

Reportedly, certain netizens were speaking out following GMA-7’s big reveal stating that Alonzo had abandoned an ongoing project. She has yet to respond to these allegations.

Bea will be starring in the Philippine adaptation of the Korean film “A Moment to Remember” together with Alden Richards and as well as an upcoming primetime series.

During a Zoom press conference, she expressed her sincerest gratitude to the network and looked forward to this new chapter in her life.

“Thank you for putting in the hard work to be able to create this beautiful event for me as a welcome. Thank you for making me feel special today,” she said.

“As you all know, this is one of the biggest decisions I’ve ever had to make in my life. And if there is anything that I have learned during the pandemic, it is that life is short and that we only live once. And we have to seize every moment, we have to seize opportunities and we have to be able to embrace change. Ngayon pa lang, nagpapasalamat na po ako sa aking (Right now, I am thankful to my) GMA bosses for opening new doors for me. I am beyond excited that today I can finally say I am officially a Kapuso. To new beginnings.”
