Julia Barretto is back to doing teleseryes and her newest leading man is Tony Labrusca!
The two are teaming up to star in a new suspense series that will be aired exclusively on iWant, ABS-CBN’s streaming platform.
Titled I Am U, the series will follow the story of two high school sweethearts who go into college.
During their press conference, director Dwein Baltazar teased that Julia will be playing two characters in the story. “Yung isa mas may saltik… Mas super yung saltik niya… May topak [One of them is more unhinged…much crazier…she’s not right in the head],” he said.
Julia added that it’ll be reminiscent of Rosamund Pike’s character in Gone Girl.
She also shared that she may have daring scenes with Tony, which is way out of her comfort zone. “Hindi naman ako pababayaan ni Tony sa mga eksena na ‘yon… [Tony won’t neglect me during those kinds of scenes…] Tony and I, what we really want to achieve right now is to be real actors. So, whatever the script needs, whatever is needed para mapaganda yung istorya [to improve the story], we have to commit ourselves to it,” she added.

Julia last starred in a romance movie with Gerald Anderson for Between Maybes. Meanwhile, Tony Labrusca’s latest project is the barkada film Ang Henerasyong Sumuko Sa Love.
