Jackie Chan, the actor we’ve all loved because of his martial arts films and sometimes quirky antics, will be receiving the 2016 Governors Award, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Chan will receive this award along with three other awardees namely film editor Anne Coates, casting director Lynn Stalmaster, and documentary filmmaker Frederick Wiseman.
They will be given the said honorary award for being “true pioneers and legends in their crafts,” said a Hollywood reported via news post on the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Chan who is now 62 started his acting career when he was 6 years old. His first Hollywood film is “Rumble in the Bronx” that came out in 1996. Some of his box-office hits include the “Rush Hour” film series and “Kung Fu Panda”.
He has also directed and produced about 30 films in Hong Kong.
The awarding ceremony will be held on November 12.
