As the presidential elections draw near, Filipinos nationwide are wondering who will be running to lead the country for the next three years. It’s only a matter of time (months, to be exact) before we witness all the preparations being made for the filing of candidacies, both in local and national offices.
We can already see a number of names floating around being favored to take the highest seat. As revealed in a recent Pulse Asia survey, some of the possible candidates are Grace Poe, Isko Moreno, Bongbong Marcos, Leni Robredo, Manny Pacquiao, and the one who led the list, Sara Duterte.
Despite being among the preferred candidates in the survey, Sara has rejected calls for her to run. In response to this, Davao Del Norte Governor, Anthony Del Rosario, vocally expressed his support for her political decision, whatever it may be.
“Kami po mga officers niya […] we will support whatever she decides. If she decides to run for President or remain as Mayor, we will support her. The final decision is hers,” Del Rosario told Inquirer.net in an exclusive interview.
Del Rosario has long been an ally and confidant to the Davao City Mayor. Acclaimed national strategist Franco Mabanta also posted on his social media that in his previous encounters with Del Rosario, he felt a “real loyalty from him for Sara.”
The presidential elections are scheduled for May 9, 2022.
