If you love the Huawei Nova 2i, then I’m sure you’ll love this too!

Say hello to the new Huawei Nova 2 Lite! Huawei’s latest offering especially for budget-conscious people who are looking for a dependable mid-range smartphone with a good camera. It is set to be released on the market this month so before you decide to buy, allow me to tell you all about my 1st impressions and some key features of this new smartphone. I’m not really a techie though, but I’ll do my best to describe this phone and my experience the simplest way possible.

The package includes a Handset,1 Charger, 1 USB Cable,a Quick Start Guide,an  Eject tool for your sim and a Protect shell.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

As you can see in the photo, the Huawei Nova 2 Lite has a premium sleek look. It was also surprisingly so light to hold (only 155 g) like its “ate,” the Nova 2i. Judging from what I see, the only difference is that the Nova 2 Lite has 2 cameras compared to the Nova 2i that has 4 (2 front and 2 at the back).

Its exact size is 158.3 x 76.7 x 7.8 mm. It’s super thin and light to hold.  I like its “feel” in my hands. Felt more like very hip & feminine though… like an ideal phone for commuting college students. It looks “sosyal” for a smartphone with a price of only less than 10k. Hmmmm not bad at all!

Like the Nova 2i, the Nova 2 Lite also has a fingerprint sensor found at the back. As additional security, the Nova 2 Lite also includes a cool Face Unlock feature. I really enjoy using this feature a lot and I’m excited to see this on up-coming Huawei phones.

It charges using micro USB with a battery life of 3,000mAh battery. I have yet to test its battery performance though, but based on my experience, Huawei’s battery performance has always been very reliable. It doesn’t drain quickly and it still performs well even after 18 months of use, unlike with other brands where you’ll need to have it perpetually connected to your powerbank in order to work. Good thing I’ve never experienced this with any Huawei phone so far.

The Nova 2 Lite has a 5.99-inch HD+ (1440 x 720) IPS 18:9 display, 269ppi. It has Full-Screen Display with a bright ‘n brilliant looking screen. It certainly doesn’t look like a less than 10k phone to me.

Test Shots

Now we go to our most favorite feature, the camera. The Nova 2 Lite has 13 MP + 2 MP (rear) and an 8 MP front camera.

Here’s a sample photo that I posted on my Instagram account during my trip to Bali last week…

And here are raw, unedited shots from my recent staycation at Novotel Manila Araneta Center.

Wide Aperture Mode

I love how the photos look sharp even without any editing whatsoever. I noticed that the focus wasn’t that fast compared to my P10 Plus and Mate 10. Of course, I already expected this to happen because of its price point. Ok, so it may not have fast focus which I got used to, but it does have the Wide Aperture  (BOKEH) feature which Huawei became known for, ever since the birth of the mighty P9. Ok, I’m happy na ulit! Overall for now, I think this camera is good for everyday social media use. I’ll do a more detailed camera review after my unit gets the latest software update =)

Would I recommend it?

Yes of course, especially if you want a “sosyal” looking phone, but with a budget of below 10k. I find it also ideal for daily commuters who don’t want to risk bringing their expensive 30K++ worth phones in public. This can also be a cool gift to your parents or relatives to stay connected with them. Better yet, you can give this to your “jowa” as well, so just in case nagbreak na kayo, you won’t regret it even if he/she refuses to give it back. hahaha joke lang (pero half meant) =)

Anyway, the Nova 2 Lite is available in 3 colors (Blue, Black, Gold). It is priced at Php9,990 and is now up for pre-order starting today until March 23rd. Those who avail of the pre-order will receive a free JBL Bluetooth headset priced at Php 4,599. Units can be redeemed the following day on March 24th.
