Senator Chiz Escudero reportedly once joked to Heart Evangelista that he would one day make her a ‘First Lady’, and now he has! Heart is said to be considered by the people of Sorsogon as their First Lady as her husband, Chiz, prepares to assume office as governor of Sorsogon. She confirmed this at the launch of an endorsement, sweetly saying of the moniker: “That’s what they call me.”

Though Heart did admit to ABS-CBN in an interview that she is more pressured in taking on this role than she was as a Senator’s wife. In terms of preparing for it, she shared:
I should put a lot of schedule in one day, so I can have free days. My goal is to at least go to Sorsogon if not once a week, every two weeks or twice a month. When Chiz was elected governor, it’s life-changing (for us). It’s really an intimate relationship with the people. But I enjoy it. It’s just a matter of balancing my schedule.

Heart was also thankful for the people of Sorsogon and that they understand her continued commitment to other priorities:
It’s also good that I don’t lose my identity. I work hard for what I have. So it all works out. The relationship is really more personal and I really like it. I’m a people person. I like going to places and meeting different people. It’s can be tiring but it excites me. In a way, it kind of cleanses your soul. I really enjoy it.
