The announcement came from Fuji Television on Wednesday evening which read*: “We would like to express our sincere condolences for the death of Hana Kimura … We take the incident seriously and will continue to respond to it in a sincere manner.”

The current season was initially scheduled to release soon its new batch of episodes that were filmed before the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. All previous episodes, including the ones that featured Kimura, are still available to watch on Netflix as of writing.

Kimura was a rising star in the pro-wrestling scene in Japan. Stardom, the promotion she wrestled with, announced her death on Twitter over the weekend.

Though the cause of her passing is still unconfirmed, Kimura became a victim of cyberbullying after a scene from an episode of Terrace House showed her expressing her anger towards another member for accidentally shrinking her wrestling outfit in the laundry. In the days leading up to her apparent suicide, Kimura posted a number of cryptic messages on her social media.

Her death has since sparked outrage among people in the wrestling and entertainment industry around the world. The Japanese government has also announced that it will start strengthening its laws against cyberbullying in the country.
