The Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship – Go Negosyo celebrated agriculture through the Mentor Me Innovation Forum on Agriculture last September 1, 2016 at the D.L. Umali Hall, University of the Philippines Los Baños, Laguna.

Almost 1,000 guests composed of entrepreneurs, government representatives, partner organizations, youth organizations and students from different schools joined the forum. Presidential consultant on entrepreneurship and Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion delivers the inspiring message and encourages the youth to have a positive attitude towards agriculture.

We are joined by Dr. Fernando Sanchez Jr. of University of the Philippines Los Baños who gave the opening remarks and welcomed the guests, Ambassador of Israel to the Philippines Effie Ben Matityau talked about the programs of the Israeli Embassy that are geared toward helping Filipino entrepreneurs,Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez informs the audience about the business opportunities in the Agriculture sector and Sen. Cynthia Villar who shares her expertise on championing the agriculture sector and the role of the public sector in inclusive growth.

The first forum, Cultivating Agribusiness Growth through Innovation, featuring Josephine Costales of Costales Nature Farms, Winston Uy of Universal Leaf Philippines, Inc., Joseph Calata of Calata Corporation, Rosalind Wee of W Group of Companies, Henry Lim Bon Liong of Sterling Paper Group of Companies, Desiree Duran of Duran Farms and Rey Lapid of R. Lapid’s chicharon shared their expertise on their businesses and how they innovate in their respective fields.

The second forum was composed of entrepreneurs who shared their stories of success and talks about rethinking agriculture on innovative approaches to sustainable agribusiness, panelists who joined the forum were Paco Magsaysay of Carmen’s Best, Brian Belen of Ato Belen’s farm, Sherill Quintana of Oryspa Spa Solutions, Arsenio Barcelona of Harbest Agribusiness Corporation and Cathy Turvill of Nurture Wellness Village.

The last forum panelists composed of experts from different sectors including the private sector, the academe and government officials, discussed the economic development through business. They also talked about the role of each sectors in achieving inclusive growth, panelists include Department of Agriculture Asec. for Agribusiness Leandro Gazmin, Jerry Montejo of CARD SME Bank Inc., Jovito Rey Gonzales of Department of Science and Technology-Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI), Melvin Carlos of Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources *Research and Development (DOST-PCCARD), Dr. Isagani Padolina of Pascual Pharma Corp. and Aristeo Portugal of Food and Agriculture Organization.
