G Force’s Teacher Georcelle tells GirlTrends: ‘you are performers and it’s not an excuse’

Local girl group GirlTrends has recently become the subject of criticism and ridicule after a video of their unsynchronized dance number on noontime show “It’s Showtime!” went viral online.

Speaking to MJ Felipe on DZMM, G Force founder and choreographer Teacher Georcelle Dapat-Sy admitted that watching the clips made her feel sad. And although she knows there must be a good reason, she stressed that it’s no excuse to put on a sloppy performance on television.

“Someone showed me the video. Actually nakakalungkot dahil may reason malamang kung bakit nangyari ‘yon. But again, they performed on TV and it’s not an excuse. You said yes to a project. Dapat ibigay mo ‘yung all,” she said.

Teacher Georcelle also acknowledged that their lack of preparedness might have been because of each member having individual projects.

“I know how these artists work. And you know when you’re ‘hot,’ ang dami mong projects na sunod-sunod. And [GirlTrends] are not honed to be professional dancers,” she explained.

She continued: “I think nagkulang lang sa time management, so pagdating ng ensayo nagkukulang. So ang sa akin, time management. And make sure that when you commit to something, i-full out na. Maaaring baka sa iba 100 percent nila binibigay. Sana dito sa pagkakataon na binibigay of course ng ‘Showtime’ kailangan nilang paghusayan.”

She also believes that failures are part of the process and performers like GirlTrends are not immune to them. But with the “right preparation” and “ample time,” they’ll be able to show fans what they are truly capable of.

“From that experience dapat matuto na. Kasi, again, you are performers and it’s not an excuse. You cannot explain that to the audience,” she added.

She also said that she looks forward to the comeback of GirlTrends after their viral video and hopes they use it as motivation to be better.

The current roster of GirlTrends includes Chienna Filomeno, Joana Hipolito, Krissha Viaje, Mica Javier, Mikee Agustin, Jessica Marasigan, and Sammie Rimando.
