Philippines Claims Gold In SEA Games 3×3 Women’s Basketball

Gilas Pilipinas Women just fought their way to a first-place finish in 3×3 Women’s Basketball, claiming their first gold medal at the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

They were victorious before an energetic crowd at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan on Monday, December 2.

They faced off against Thailand, the only team that had beat them in the preliminary rounds. Ending the game 17-13, the Philippines’ win can be seen as a comeback after losing to Thailand in an earlier game.

Afril Bernardino was the star of the game, scoring a total of 10 points despite currently nursing a left thumb injury. Teammates Jack Animam and Janine Pontejos both contributed 3 points each to the game. While Clare Castro scored 1 point for the team.
