Game of Thrones Season 5 Premiere Night – First in Asia!

The summer heat may be scorching here in Manila, yet to us Game of Thrones fans, we already know that “Winter is coming..” dun-dun-da-da-duhn-dun-da-da…

Game of Thrones Season 5 Premiere Night - First in Asia!

Last night, I was invited by his grace, King Tommen Baratheon, to attend the Game of Thrones Season 5 advanced screening. I almost wanted to cry because I was part of the first group in Asia to watch the new episode, days ahead before the worldwide premiere.

Although the event itself was incredible, here are 6 things that made it even more amazing!

6. #IronThronePH replica

Every GoT fan dreams of sitting on the throne, whether you’re a Lannister, a Stark, or a hybrid of the two. Well my friends, HBO Asia brought a life-size replica of the Iron Throne here in Manila! So start using the hashtag #IronThronePh!

5. Quirky freebies

Before the episode premiere, there was a quick trivia game about the show. The winners were able to win quirky GoT toys from Funkopop. Here’s Maxene Magalona with her little John Snow.

4. Westeros-style set design

HBO Asia did an incredible job in creating a modern day Game of Thrones-inspired theater! What I loved most about the styling of the place were the banners displayed on the windows!

3. Scrumptious snacks

You can’t enjoy a Game of Thrones episode without yummy snacks, right? I enjoyed munching on these scrumptious snacks from Taters!

2. The screening itself

Okay, I promise, I won’t say any spoilers! However,  it was refreshing to see most of the major characters (aka my friends) after a long break. It made me want to binge-watch seasons 1-4 again. Just like in any movie house, we were asked to switch off our phones to avoid camcording.

1. Fellowship of GoT Fans

Th best part of the event (aside from the advanced screening, of course) was being in a community of people who love the show. At this event, I was allowed to show my crazy inner fan with my fellow GoT geeks!
