Gabay Guro: Charity Gala Night for Teachers

Gabay Guro: Charity Gala Night for Teachers

Junior Chamber International – Ortigas Chapter (JCI Ortigas) and The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) Foundation, in cooperation with PLDT HOME Fibr, powered a star-studded and world-class charity gala night at an exclusive club in Makati City last September 16, 2014.

The main lounge was decked out with exquisite décor for a glamorous night of art and entertainment for a cause. Among the esteemed guests at the Charity Gala were Senator JV Ejercito; Cavite Mayor Strike Revilla; Cauayan Mayor Bernard Dy; former Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Philip Ella Juico; internationally-acclaimed glass sculptor Ramon Orlina; philanthropist-socialite Tessa Prieto-Valdes; former Miss Universe Gloria Diaz; and TOYM awardees, such as Lorenzo Tan, Al Gabriel, Gene Gonzales and Risa Hontiveros to name a few.

“Tonight, let us remember all those who have imparted knowledge to us. Those are the people, apart from your parents who have helped you reach this very moment, this very day, this life. So raise your glasses to the people who have inspired hope, ignited our imaginations and instilled in us a love of life and learning.” as 2014 JCI Ortigas President, Fitz Geraldine Pabalan, ended her welcome remarks.

Guests were serenaded by no less than the Concert King Martin Nievera, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, and broadway sensation Jenine Desiderio.

The event auctioned off masterpieces of 2006 TOYM awardee and world-class brass sculptor Michael Cacnio, and award-winning sculptor Juan Sajid Imao. Auctioned off alongside these reputable pieces were the works of Filipino artists—Maestro Angel Cacnio, Jun Martinez, Menchu Arandilla, Al Perez, and Dr. Ton Raymundo. These works were the yields of that night’s on-the-spot painting session.

“We are very proud to be the broadband of choice among the topnotch citizens of our country. Tonight’s Charity Gala brought together outstanding local personalities to showcase Filipino excellence and talent. We feel honored to be part of such a world-class event,” said PLDT HOME marketing head Gary Dujali.

All benefits and proceeds from the Charity Gala were raised for Gabay Guro, an educational arm and a flagship project of the PLDT-SMART Foundation. Five masters degree scholarships from the Philippine Women’s University were awarded to teachers that night.
