“Fuel of the Future” Is Made from Water and Air

A report from Time.com said that an Audi research facility based in Dresden, Germany has successfully produced fuel that is made from water, carbon dioxide (CO2), and renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power.

Audi said on a press release that Germany’s Federal Minister of Education and Research Johanna Wanka test drove the fuel and called it, “a crucial contribution to climate protection and the efficient use of resources.”

Audi also released a detailed infographic of how the fuel of the future is manufactured.

With the successful production of the first batch, the next step is industrial scale production.

The venture is in partnership with a greentech company called Sunfire. According to Sunfire CTO Christian von Olshausen, “If we get the first sales order, we will be ready to commercialize our technology.”
