Frida Kahlo’s Paintings Come to Life With These Sneakers

Here’s another treat for art enthusiasts. A famous skate shoe brand just released a collection in honor of Mexican painter and activist Frida Kahlo. The lineup consists of three sneakers that all feature her iconic paintings.

Frida Kahlo is known for her works which focused on Mexican culture and life experience. She is widely considered as one of Mexico’s greatest artists. She is also known for painting a number of self-portraits saying “I paint myself because I am often alone and I am the subject I know best.”

The first in the lineup is a high-top that features The Two Fridas (1939).

The low-top version has an all-over print of watermelons featured on her painting Viva La Vida, Watermelons (1954).

Lastly, the slip-on dons the artist’s self-portrait titled Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird (1940).

The pieces in the collection range from $80-95 (around Php4,000-Php4,800) and was released last June 29, 2019. Whether you’re a sneaker lover or a big fan of Frida Kahlo, these sneakers are a good way to up your OOTD game. Which one will you cop?
