For over a decade, since its inception in 2003, the UP Society of the Management and Economics Students (UP SMES) continues to provide a training ground that will equip young managers, economists and entrepreneurs’ knowledge and leadership skills to prepare them as the future leaders of the Philippines. In celebration of our fifteenth-year milestone as a scholastic organization with an unwavering commitment to harnessing creativity and innovation, we would be conducting a seminar that would revolve around the concepts being instilled in the College of Economics and Management.

This coming October 8, Monday, 1-4 PM, at the REDREC Auditorium UPLB, UP SMES, in partnership with Department of Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship (DAME), brings you a seminar entitled Forging Linkages: International Relations and Agricultural Development in the Philippines. This will tackle the overview of Philippines’ international relations and cooperation activities, opportunities and economic impact of international relations in agriculture, and Food and Agriculture Organization’s intervention in the Philippines regarding current issues in the agricultural sector. This event aims to inform and enlighten the delegates regarding how the Philippines operates as a globally competitive nation in order to develop as an agricultural country. This also aims to bring up a panel discussion with regards to today’s current issues such as foreign exchange and international trade in terms of the agricultural sector.

This event is free and is open to all interested students and faculties of the University of the Philippines Los Baños.

The event will be featuring Ms. Abigail Amestoso, a Foreign Affairs Research Specialist II from the Department of Agriculture International Affairs Division, Ms. Kristine Jeanne Yap, also a Foreign Affairs Research Specialist II from the Department of Agriculture International Affairs Division, and Mr. Rafael Umbrero, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist from Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Philippines. This seminar is formally endorsed by Junior Philippine Economics Society (JPES), College of Economics and Management (CEM), Chancellor Fernando Sanchez Jr., sponsored by Monde Nissin and When in Manila (WhenInManila.com) and Rappler as the media partner.
