It’s #FlashbackFriday today. And even though, it’s already been 15 years, Aaliyah’s death was unacceptable as she was one of the brilliant artists I know.
Her voice, her beauty, lives on forever. It was August 25, 2001, when the world, especially the music industry, had lost an angel named Aaliyah Dana Houghton, also known as, Aaliyah.
Aaliyah and eight other members died when the private plane they were using to fly out of Bahamas – where they filmed the video “Rock the Boat,” – crashed. According to the report, the plane might have been too crowded and it was later discovered the pilot was reportedly not authorized to fly and under the influence of cocaine and alcohol.
As a bonafide 90s and early 2000s fan, I could say that those were the best years of the history of music. Although the artists today are equally brilliant as the artists before, I must admit that the lyrics back then were well thought out and taken deeply with real emotions.

As described by friends and other news, the beach scenes were shot a few hours before Aaliyah died. Sad but I must say that this song is a phenomenal.

Gosh, this song gives me the chills even until now. A lot of memories when I listen to this song!
2. I Miss You
This video became a tribute to her from friends in the music industry. The video showed her friends collaborated to show their utmost love and respect for their Baby Girl, Aaliyah.

1. Are You That Somebody
This song featuring Timbaland is one of her hit songs. In fact, the Rolling Stone ranked the song at number 24 on it’s “50 Best songs of the nineties list.” Moreover, this song earned Aaliyah a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
Sometimes, it’s hard to comprehend why such talented and sensational people are taken away from us. But, I think DMX was right: “God wanted you beside him because you were truly an angel on earth.”
We miss you, Aaliyah. You are indeed that somebody whose songs and legacy will never be forgotten.
